I grew these flowers (cannot remember their name, they are most popularly grown in white, might start with A) from seed, to plant them somewhere, and ended up planting them by the back door as I had made a garden bed there to cheer up the area, but with few ideas for planting, except for camellias, as it's deeply shaded. I also chucked the adjacent lilies in because they also needed somewhere to live - something that I didn't consider before ordering them 😬
Anyway, now there are heaps of these little yellow flowers and the hover flies have come! Being a deeply shaded area, I suspect it's too shady for the bees, who seem to like the sun.
Anyway, there's no competition for the hover flies, and with luck they'll lay eggs around the plants that get aphids, as the larvae will eat them off.
