There was a sense in the Inkscape project that it should be the developer team that decided what the AI policy should be. I flatty rejected this. Because most of the consequences for the project, for our users and for the world have absolutely nothing to do with developing software. It's reputation, risk, relationships and community standards and morality. The last thing I wanted was important decisions to be pre-narrowed to questions of technical usefulness. #linux #debian #foss #ai

@doctormo@floss.social This was my big beef with this Debian thing for sure. Like, you're gonna use some fancy run-off algorithm thing and declare that that's Democracy? No, friends, voting is not democracy. Creating a just society for all is democracy. And technical usefulness sure as heck isn't either 😆

@doctormo@floss.social So, why would it not be up to the developer team to decide what would be useful for the project? I thought Inkscape has a rather meritocratic approach to which new tech implementation gets adopted, no? They - so I guess you too - boasted about this in the open? Did I get something wrong in the last 15 years? I am certainly not a tight follower (more server tech and fiance), but Inkscape was always a big candle to be shown. Huh...

@doctormo@floss.social Aaaaaah, got it! See, Us male apes shouldn't try to multitask. We can only focus on "server implementation/deployment" and/or "application delivery" / "boobs". Too difficult for me at the same time handling this triangle of attention. So, you - as a member of the devteam - rejected AI-adoption, did I get it right? IF so - yeah, I appreciate this.
