I still sometimes think about this conversation I had with my dad many years ago. I had asked if I would become a Luddite in my old age and refuse to use new technology and fail to understand how to use it.
He said to me I’m too plugged in and there would never be a point where I’m not into new technology.
Ai really feels like that point for millennials. I’m watching the Linux community kick and scream and I wonder where they’re going to be in the coming years when industrial society forces ai on them by integrating into their job and their lives.
I was talking to a cs student and he said he would never use ai, even though he wants to be a software engineer. And I said man you really need to drop CS and do what I did which was to learn to turn screws or rack and stack or something. Your career isn’t going to be fun for you if you’re not willing to adapt.
