@charliejane@wandering.shop To quote Bertold Brecht: In the dark times Will there also be singing? Yes, there will also be singing. About the dark times.

@charliejane I'm not doing art myself, but I am boosting art and artists - including their fundraisers - ESPECIALLY NOW. Because like you said. We need it more than ever. Trying to drown out and make us distrust human made art with LLMS is imho a propaganda technique and resistance is so so important. Doing art, even just doodling, is a reminder that we're human and that that's not a deficit. sorry feeling /feelings/ today apparently lol

@charliejane So, not wanting to just sit around and wait for the answer to fall into her lap, she used her tail to quickly swing and dash towards where hedgehog had ducked into an alleyway, leaning up against a wall seemingly trying to catch hedgehogs breath as she landed right in front of hedgehog.

@charliejane The problem I keep going back to is stability. I have a rough draft for an entire album of music, a video game, and a fantasy world for tabletop games that have all been in the works since as early as 2020 and every time I start working on it, it almost feels as if the universe itself is intervening to put me at risk of being homeless and/or put in a camp.

@charliejane The whole Renaissance happened at a place and time where things were generally unstable, unjust, unsafe and crappy. Imagine if DaVinci, Michelangelo and the gang had felt like the bad rulers and the dire political and economic problems of the day were just too important, that this was no time to think about something as trivial and personal as art. @Trenton_Hoshiko

@charliejane I mean, what's the alternative? Doesn't the artist have mostly art skills to apply to the world's problems?

@charliejane I art the shit outta art, but self-promotion seems to turtle the entire fediverse. Like driving in the bike lane level offense. 😄 Or, I suck at arting and am a jerk. Also. 🤪

@charliejane Exactly this. I just started my first fundraiser on Chuffed and felt hesitant to share it while so much is happening. But seeing this thread reminds me that mutual aid is part of showing up. If anyone has tips for a newbie on Mastodon, I'd be grateful 🙏

@charliejane I have been trying to boost more posts about art over the past couple of years, not fewer! I've followed a bunch of new hashtags to help with this.

@charliejane The world has always been going to shit. Since the beginning of time going to shit has been the cornerstone of mankind.

@charliejane If you're not going to make art when the would is going to shit, when do you believe it would be a better time to create and express yourself? 🤨🤷♂️

@charliejane yes the world looks like a collapsing stage set & we stand in the wings wondering whether it's still polite to perform. But the question is a sleight of hand pretending to be about promotion when it's actually a quiet moral panic in marketing clothes: "how do I promote my art" being the socially acceptable form of "how dare I exist creatively while everything burns?" A charming guilt. Always fashionable in eras of decline.
