  Sometimes I will pack a bag, leave my team at home, and drive alone off in a direction for a weekend without so much as a hotel room, and just rent rooms as I need them. Of course, the last time that happened, my friends and wife freaked out and now I always have an assistant or friend or wife with me, whenever I leave Portland. I get it, there’s mobility concerns, but I suppose it’s always best to come back safe with great art.

  I plan my days out, even if that means planning a day to do “nothing”. It took many years to figure out that I thrive best when there’s structure and so far so good!

  I like to have an outline of a plan, that way I can change things around if something doesn’t go how I want.
