@Cliff538 I grew up in northern Manitoba. My partner grew up in Toronto. When we were first together, we went to visit my parents, who still lived up north. The smallest airport my partner had ever been in was Saskatoon's. We flew to Winnipeg, then a 737 to Thompson to wait for the Calm Air twin otter to take us further north.
When our flight was called, she looked around for a gate, and was surprised when I grabbed our bags and walked out onto the runway.

@Cliff538 We walked across the runway, through the -40 cold and climbed the steps to the twin otter. Once inside, it was evident that the last flight had been a cargo run -- the seats were folded upward and strapped against the side of the fuselage. I unstrapped a seat and dropped it into position, unfolding the seat back, turned to my partner and saw absolute incomprehension. We sat down and strapped in to what she insisted on calling a deck chair and waited for takeoff. /2 of x
