@mschomm@bonn.social source of my brain melt just yesterday: durchbrechen. From textbook, durchdringen, durchfahren, durchlaufen, durchschauen all have non-separable usages, while durchsuchen and durchqueren are always (?) non-separable.

@creepy_owlet@mastodon.online I see, can't find separable examples for durchsuchen and durchqueren as well. Good example for the fact that textbook explanations/rules like 'verbs are separable if both compounds are words in their own right' are usually only rationalizations not fitting all real cases.
