  I keep coming back to the horrified astonishment I felt in late 2025. It was kinda excusable in 2016. But after already having seen what he did to the country for 4 years, and then after Jan 6… And mind you, my demented, ever conservative, ever pro-capitalist and btw also pro-apartheid father, even he thinks Trump is an idiot who should be nowhere near political power. What’s the answer here? Seems the USA have a deeper problem. I think it’s that particularly poisonous combination of consumer capitalism on steroids, and generations of lack of or plain bad education that’s often more aligned with capitalist interests. Oh and the history of “The American Dream”, i.e. hope that you’re the one out of a thousand who succeeds in raping everything and everyone around you for financial gain.
