#OpenSource software that maintains time zones on all our devices are having some difficulty handling British Columbia's decision to go to permanent Daylight Saving Time. That's because some software, particularly Unicode CLDR (Common Locale Data Repository), define DST cycles with an end time. While CLDR tests code updates, the TZ Database is updating to help CLDR with Canada/Pacific equating to permanent Mountain Standard Time going forward. https://lists.iana.org/hyperkitty/list/tz-announce@iana.org/thread/VX2Z3CBO6KHTYZNBBKFFWM7ZCI6TVCXP/ #software #engineering #tech
