@simonjwoolf@epicure.social Hi Simon! Thanks again for your work on this! Maybe a stupid question, but is there compelling benefit to hosting your own instance, rather than just having someone else host? If the advantages are marginal, then I'd recommend the next time that there is some sort of upgrade or big bug, we might consider moving, since it seems moving is not that hard for the individual user. I definitely appreciate what you're doing!

@JonOfLodi@epicure.social It's a good question. Personally I get a kick out of keeping the service online, and demonstrating that Mastodon is a truly distributed ecosystem. I like playing a very small part in it I guess. At such a point when it becomes either financially or temporally no longer feasible, I would not hesitate to advise people to migrate elsewhere and eventually shut down this instance. But we may be a few years from that point. Let's see.
