I've been a fan of Linux-based #Android since 2010. It's painful to see Google set out to destroy the Open Source developer community surrounding it. They claim "security" in forcing app devs to register and pay fees to Google. I doubt they understand this ends Android's differentiation from iOS in the eyes of Open Source users too. I've been watching this issue with concern, knowing it would mean I'll switch to iPhone this Fall. #mobile #OpenSource #software #engineering #tech

108 days until #Android becomes a closed platform, giving up what advantage it had over closed systems. If they don't reverse course by then, I'm already planning to abandon them. Without an open system, they fail to compete against the other big closed mobile platform. https://keepandroidopen.org/ #mobile #OpenSource #software #engineering #tech
