decided to spend some time pondering this
to dig in deeper, the robot is moving on a grid-like board, each location on the board has an integer value on it
the algorithm's job is to interpret instructions for the robot to move (also ignoring invalid moves that would move it outside the board) get the total sum of values of every spot it passes

most non-lunatics could just define a bunch of variables for that, but this is too low level going to assume that either the next command is on an I/O port, and the current field value is in memory, or both are on I/O ports will need some consideration during the matura break
