Regulatory T cells (Tregs) altered in children with autism
"Tregs act as immune system "brakes," calming inflammation to prevent overreaction. They are often decreased in autistic individuals."

@Mepurfield ... in mice. Also I object to the term "healthy" to mean "not autistic".

@Mepurfield Perhaps that's why we are more prone to autoimmune diseases. In my family there are already 6 of us diagnosed with autism, 2 girls and 4 adults, and all 4 adults have autoimmune diseases. I have seen the same pattern in my patients.

@Mepurfield . I think a link seems intuitive, but I suppose the pathologization is in, “altered.” . Altered from what, did these kids have normal T-cells before, like before they were born or conceived? Why the leap from “different,” to “altered?”
