Good morning #homelab and #selfhosted peeps! I'm doing the big two step #proxmox cluster upgrade today, going from pve 8.3 to 8.4, then 9.2. I already did the ceph cluster upgrade to Squid a few weeks ago. I had stayed on 8.3 because there were known performance regressions with the newer kernels that specifically impacted performance and stability of my workstation, which uses pcie passthrough for the GPU and USB controller. First host complete for stage 1, 3 more to go.

  • @crabbypup@cosocial.ca can't you go from 8.3 to 9.2 directly?

Well, that was... Fun? The first set of upgrades went perfectly. Then moving to pve 9 I had one host that hit a bunch of AppArmor issues, DKMS issues, brand new unique corosync issues that nobody running proxmox has experienced before if the ddg search is to be believed, and several issues caused by having had podman installed on that host in the past, now that proxmox directly supports pulling in OCI containers and converts them to LXCs. And then all the rest were completely fine.

  • @crabbypup@cosocial.ca have fun, I am enjoying 9.x! I believe SDN is now out of preview in 9.x but don't quote me on that.

@crabbypup@cosocial.ca how did it go? I recently did an 8.x to 9.x upgrade on a single node with success!
