Wikipedia fun fact: BioWare was founded by Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk and Augustine Yip, three graduates from medical school at the University of Alberta. Baldur's Gate was in development for three years. During this time, the three doctors continued to practice medicine.

This is pretty cool, talking about video games in 1998 was a dead serious topic. Here is what an interview and presentation of Baldur's Gate gameplay looked liked in 1998 long before Youtube reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA7toG_rGOo #retrogaming #bioware #baldursgate

@chris@mstdn.games The same here. Thinking back, perhaps I spent too much time in these games in the 00's... This studio spoiled me.🤓

@chris@mstdn.games NWN was the first PC RPG I played. I had built a somewhat dated gaming rig circa 2003 so I could finally play Halflife 1 and Age of Empires. A friend recommend NWN. I installed it around 1:00 PM on a weekend, thinking I'd try it out. I didn't turn it off until 4:00 AM the next morning (and that was probably after a BSOD). I did nothing for the summer 2003 except play that game. Hilariously, I never got past act 2 in the campaign (though I did finish SoU). I played in a lot of persistent words in college. I usually played a deaf wizard with the silent spell feat, which probably annoyed a lot of people, though it made for some interesting RP scenarios.
