Car companies love to name their models after places that are exotic to most customers, and deeply mundane to locals. However the places they choose, unsurprisingly have problems related to climate collapse, which is exacerbated by the oil used in... er, cars. 1/many

The United Nations have declared that 1.5°c rise or less is unachievable. This does not mean we surrender. Every fraction of a degree hotter means vastly more people suffering and dying, and more of the natural world being destroyed. https://www.unep.org/resources/limiting-overshoot-navigating-exceedance

Thank you for following our account. However when did you last meaningfully effect change? We don't mean sign as petition or ❤️ a comment. We mean go out and talk to people or be at a local council meeting. Never mind be one of those heroes who risk arrest, imprisonment or their lives at protests. What are you really doing?

Operation Blue Skies is a trial to reduce contrails (the high altitude cloud tracks created by jet aircraft in cold humid conditions that are 40% of flights global heating contribution) by changing their altitude. It is running for the next 2 winters in Shanwick airspace using AI to calculate where contrails might occur and reroute planes. https://www.ati.org.uk/news-events/news/operation-blue-skies-takes-off-landmark-oceanic-airspace-trial-to-test-ai-driven-contrail-avoidance/

At first the floods in the Trishuli valley in Nepal appeared to be a purely natural disaster, an earthquake, but it is increasingly suggested that they were due to glaciers weakening because of heating and then shattering sending vast amounts of ice into the valley below. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/nepal-glacier-floods-warming-climate-disaster

Yes, a third of a million people evacuated in Europe due to wildfire is a lot and should be enough to scare governments into rapid decarbonisation but you can bet it won't be. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyj8k4nn5jo

Whether you’re a protester, an organizer, a poster on social media, a financial supporter, or someone who shares our goals and helps spread the word, you matter. A quick reminder in case you haven't already: move to a renewable electricity tariff, a bank that doesn't invest in fossil fuels, and superannuation/pension/401k that doesn't invest in coal/gas/oil. A few hours of boring work but then it's done for good and takes $10,000s out of harmful industries over the years. If you've already done it, maybe look out for join offers to encourage others to do the same. 💚

The recent scraping of ultra-catastrophic climate scenarios show that climate action works. Normal people have voted, protested, & cajoled government and industry to install vast amounts of renewable power, in the process making it the cheapest option.
