Following @vncresolver is just an exercise in being terrified how many industrial control systems are wide open to VNC connections.

The news about BioWare is very sad. That said I know the Mass Effect team left a long time ago to make Exodus and I’m still looking forward to it quite a bit.

After two straight 16 hour days I did something I normally wouldn’t have done in the past and took today off. My level of frustration combined with my level of exhaustion was just not the toxic cocktail I needed to bring to my team and my work today.

What are security peeps thoughts on SASE platforms like Cato or Zscaler that require third party MiTM certificate injection into everything for internet access? #infosec #security #secops

Buying a ticket to anything is signing up to have their advertising shoved down your throat forever. It’s so egregious. Bounce your data off of the shadow profile that’s been built for me. I am from Missouri. I live in San Diego. I bought a ticket to watch a team from Missouri play in Vegas. What about my advertising profile says that I want to buy tickets to every Raiders game going forward now? If you’re going to collect every scrap of data about me at least use it.

I tried out a new little travel router this weekend. It’s been pretty nuts for performance. I’m on my wifi whenever I get in the parking lot of the hotel. Always wondered how this would work and it’s been great.

The more I hear about the plague death in Russia the more I’m convinced that you need to be buying PPE for yourself and your family right now. This is likely a cold war “dead hand switch” bioweapon that’s specifically designed to destroy the world. If it’s out of quarantine this will be the biggest disaster humanity has ever faced. #plague

I have to say that 18 months ago I was incredibly impressed with how well Opus and Sonnet worked and I annihilated so much tech debt with controlled usage of both models in certain areas of our infrastructure. We're so far down the path of model decay now though that Opus 5.5 is borderline not usable for anything important. I can't be the only person using this bullshit that hasn't noticed how poorly the frontier models are performing in late 2026. #llm #claude #anthrop...

I really really hate when people misspell my name in Teams and email when my name is prominently displayed in multiple places if you’re talking to me. It shouldn’t but it definitely affects the way I treat you going forward.

I did some side by side testing of opus and an MTP version of gemma4:26b I built as a general tool calling assistant and the results have been pretty spectacular. I only hit issues with context size but otherwise great performance as a general question answerer when cross checking data sources they both site. #llm #ai #homelab #gemma

I am fairly annoyed that I've wanted to lose about 30lbs for my entire adult life and all I had to do was stop eating after 6:30pm.

Inject a Milwaukee/Cleveland World Series directly into my veins please… No offense to Tampa but you have no fans. It would mean more to the rust belt cities. #MLB #ALCS #NLCS

Acquiring a company and immediately laying off all redundant roles is a great way to lose even the people you wanted to keep. Just axe everyone and live with the consequences.

I’ve almost got Home Assistant rigged up for me to yell “Red Alert!” and have it change all my hue bulbs in my office and the hallway outside as well as all of my rgb fans in the server rack to dark red. I still have to come up with a way to have it sound the red alert klaxon from TNG but I’m working on it lol. #homelab #homeassistant #selfhosted #homeautomation #startrek

One thing that sucks almost more than anything living in a neighborhood with a common mailbox is when you get a package delivered to one of the parcel boxes but the mailman puts the key in the wrong mail box. I’ve lost hundreds of dollars to this over the past almost 3 years now. Whichever neighbors get the key seem to always keep whatever package I was supposed to get instead of just dropping it at my door at the very least. Caught the mailman today to get my package from yesterday though. 👍

Medical stuff drains me. I took the entire morning off after an 8:30am appointment so I could just come home and crash for a few hours. We had some migration work finishing up last night at work. I knew there’d be issues today but I wasn’t moving my appointment just to be available. I really need other people to pull their weight. The entire enterprise can’t be dependent on me being available to troubleshoot systems I don’t have anything to do with or any expertise in working with.

Taking advantage of my rewards from driving back to visit my mom got me a 3 night stay in Vegas to see the Chiefs play the Raiders and a concert for one of my favorite new bands over the last couple years. I just had to call the rewards line afterwards to stop trying to get me to book this trip a week after I booked it.

The way the GrapheneOS mastodon account is ran makes me lose trust in the project. Does anyone else feel this way? Sure does seem like a place to mostly air petty grievances in addition to actual platform information and updates.

• View post

@panda@pandas.social Maybe, but it heavily turns me off and reads as unprofessional to me. If it was me I’d be wading into drama away from the official account on a personal one. People who want the drama and to be involved in that could follow both.

• View post

@panda@pandas.social If you use the “company” account as your personal soapbox you’re only ever going to invite more friction with your actual project. It’s a losing strategy long term. Which is exactly my point here. I lose trust in the project as a whole right now instead of saying hey there’s this one guy who works on GrapheneOS that’s a little too online for my tastes. Because the surface area is exactly one account that represents literally everything. Anyway. My opinion doesn’t matter.
