RE: https://oldbytes.space/@blakespot/117185128203574799 I have a handful of apps that I haven't compiled in a decade that will stop being usable with this change. I know that these apps are still being used – heck, *I'm* still using a few of them. And yet I might never be able to find the time to update them all.

Xcode 27 RC is likely to come out soon. I'm surprised that Device Hub has so many quirks/missing features. * Can't trigger a memory warning. * Can't drag a file onto the simulator to AirDrop to the sim * Showing the app container in the Finder shows a weird pseudo location that if you try to add/remove files, some async process conflicts with all changes. Plus the rename has caused existing tools that expect the old Simulator to be all kinds of broken.

Me as a user: iPhone Duo looks great! Me as a consumer: this is gonna hurt. Me as a developer who expects the status bar, navigation bar and utility bar to be in specific locations: eep.

Thanks @chris and Florian for all the videos! Looking forward to anything @chris does next. And have fun outside the digital world, Florian (wherever that is). (I know it's been two weeks since this announcement but I've been busy. Comment by @gregheo reminded me.) https://talk.objc.io/episodes/S01E500-the-end-of-swift-talk

I'm loving Designed in California – particularly, the current "Apple's Mac OS Crisis" series. I'm endlessly fascinated by this era of Apple. The failure of Pink, Taligent, Copland, BeOS, and more. Eventually Apple + NeXT succeeded but this required NeXT to be consumer focussed, Apple to be less dysfunctional and Jobs to overcome his "mercurial" nature and reluctance to rejoin his former company. It could easily have gone so many other...

I'm sure it will go away over time but right now, when I use the iPhone Duo simulator, I get freaked out when I need to go "Back" because my app's back button isn't where I expect it to be. Such a simple thing but I've been going to the top left corner for so long.

I wish I could periodically tell people my context is full and I need to take a couple minutes to auto-compact.
