Enough is enough. I am glad to see one of the #Bristol #LocalMedia outlets taking such a public name-and-shame stance against all forms of #bigotry. Too often platforms shy away from this. Which only lets the perpetrators think it is acceptable. No more. Name and shame. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/news-opinion/enough-enough-wont-stand-having-10357692

Isn't it interesting how central to UK culture alcohol still is? Even to the PR, media soundbite level - it's about the pint. What about people who do not drink pints? Yea, the proposed legislation is wider, but, at the core, the pint still seems to rule.... https://news.sky.com/story/govt-vows-to-protect-pavement-pints-and-make-it-easier-for-pubs-to-extend-their-opening-hours-13402388

I appreciate that this is hardly scientific but... Our cat would get stress related cystitis if we put her in the cattery for more than a few days. However, if we introduced just a couple of cranberries into her daily food in the run up to the stay, no ill effects. She also thought they were treats and would eat them directly from our hands... https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/articles/uti_diet

Yes, this media report about #GenZ being too shy to order #coffee is a good headline grab. But what about when something important happens? A home emergency? Needing to sort out insurance? Learning to drive? Things that have real world consequences? I feel that this story masks something deeper... If you're a Gen Z person, does anything in this ring true for you? (Happy to have a chat in DM - I am genuinely interested and sending you all the best vibes) Increasing number of Gen Z...

What a week. After months of job searching, I started a new interim role on Wednesday! Interesting work so far, huge amount to learn and it's just for 3 months initially, but, Yay! It also meant that I could have the haircut that I had been putting off - so double yay! In addition, a monster blog I wrote about the job market got published and is going down well in the professional community it's aimed at. Was a bit nervous about it, but evidently it's touched a nerv...

Went shopping yesterday. Child, tantruming, near the checkout. "But mummy I want some salad!" (Stamps foot, face starts to crumple towards tears) Somewhat surprised what makes kids grumpy these days...!

I might have mentioned that the #jobsearch market is terrible, recently. So I wrote about it for a #communications blog, just at the same time as a new contract came through for me (phew). If you are #hiring or trying to get #hired, I hope it is helpful.... It is certainly connecting with folk over on LinkedIn. It's been called a "brilliant, worrying and important read". I'll let you make your minds up. If you're looking for a new job, keep the fai...

Maybe I cried a little at the end of this one. There's a lot spoken about robots and the workplace. But what if they could help foster #inclusion and #connectedness? I love this video so much... Maybe you will too? https://youtube.com/watch?v=-iLcOLvNfz0&si=xXsTjixy19KFJpNN

Interesting definition of a housing boom here... Not sure if this is what was meant, is bad journalism or just a misunderstanding of supply/demand. Unless I have missed something? "The housing market is booming, with supply outstripping demand..." https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/fears-south-west-seaside-town-10411878#google_vignette

Shit a brick. Reading the news about Trump's law enforcement moves in #Washington makes me think of Octavia E Butler's Parable of the Sower/Talents. Terrifying. Especially if the data isn't there to support it.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2110me5g4o Also here. Unprecedented? Maybe 1930s Germany holds a rough comparison (that's what came to mind but my recollection of all the details is a little shaky) Trump takes over DC police, National Guard...

Do most UK folks access Mastodon via a VPN? I wasn't aware of the Geolock until it happened so wondering whether to stay on my current server, or migrate. I don't know why but VPN makes me feel a bit itchy...
