New Discoveries: October 30, 2026, 40-track mixtape I have these playlists made every Friday based on my recent LastFM scrobbles, so it's not always music that's completely new to me. Sometimes it's bands I haven't listened to in a while. https://gleaming-bridge-xjc9.here.now/ And it's been added to the playlist directory: https://playlists.snakepit.us/ #music #playlists

People like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are not geniuses. They're just evil morons who have been able to take advantage of a system built by and for evil morons. We need to rebuild a society where these idiots cannot get money and power.

FeedEcho exists because I used and loved Echofeed, the little service that cross-posted your RSS feed to Mastodon, Bluesky, and more. When it was announced that it was shutting down, I knew I would miss it, so I built a service inspired by it. FeedEcho watches your RSS or Atom feed and sends new posts wherever you want: Mastodon, Bluesky, micro.blog, Matrix, Discord, email, or a plain webhook. Images and alt text come along, multi-image posts work on Mastodon and Bluesky. It's open source...

If you see ads pointing you to votesafe.org to check your voter registration, read this first. VoteSafe is run by America PAC, Elon Musk's super PAC. It is not a government site. Its own footer says "Paid for by America PAC." It also doesn't register anyone. The flow ends by telling you to download a PDF, print it, and mail it in yourself. Its privacy policy (updated Aug 29, 2026) lets America PAC share your info with "business partners" for targeted marketing, or...

So Trump and his lackeys are fucking with mail-in ballots despite what the courts have ordered, so I wouldn't trust the USPS to deliver your ballots for the midterm election. Vote in person or have your ballet mailed to you, and then drop it off to a ballot box yourself. Republicans know that more and more people are getting fed up with them by the day and they will do anything to win. Every week I see them on TV talking about how if they lose the midterm the Democrats will impeach Trump an...

Yale's most popular course in 300 years was about happiness. Laurie Santos's 'Psychology and the Good Life' enrolled nearly 1,200 students in 2018, a quarter of all Yale undergrads. The Coursera version reached 3.38 million by 2021. The core finding: we're systematically bad at predicting what will make us happy. We overestimate the impact of money, promotions, and acquisitions. The brain adapts to new circumstances and returns to baseline - a phenomenon called hedonic adapt...
