Casual @cwebber and @glyph name-drops? In *my* Chris Person Aftermath blog? It’s more likely than you think (due to *gestures broadly*, unfortunately). https://aftermath.site/ai-slop-hobbies-in-software-emulation/

RE: https://neuromatch.social/@jonny/117510139272497507 Excited for when they reach for the “100x price increase” dial and I get to again contemplate the full universe of elegant and efficient and thoughtful information retrieval instead of “Did You Try Shoving It In An LLM?” being the only discussion people will have.

#AskFedi How do people manage images on their static sites? My blog contents are Git-backed and generated with 11ty, deployed on a server I can SSH into. If I want to start adding photos, where do I put those? Surely I don’t commit them directly to the repo, right? Do I host them somewhere and pull them in dynamically on build? Do I manually put a folder on the web server and dump some images in it, then write my img tags so that they correctly (🤞🏻) reference those? Do I figure out how Git LFS...

@aphera What’s the recommended workflow for tweaking the black point for a photo? Some editors have an explicit slider for it, but I hadn’t noticed one in so far in Aphera’s controls

PSA: I know “<prefix>-fascist” gets bandied around sometimes (perhaps on account of all the fascists about in the world), but for anyone wondering—if this resonates with you: > Every commit to an open-source project is another component in the great machine of technological progress. you should be aware that “Great Machine of ___ Progress” is kind of the *core principle* of the various fascism flavors. “Great Machine of Race Progress”? That’s your classic™️ fascist. “Grea...

Brutal. I’ve sold multiple (non-“gamer”) friends on the Deck and it revolutionized how they thought about what video games could be. Accessibility to whole worlds of art, yet another thing burned at the altar of “AI”. https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/45479024/view/672869045073085538?ref=aftermath.site

FYI, there’s just a couple days left in Phoenix’s SRP election! This is what the 10 million Turning Point USA signs plastered all over the valley are about. Those signs tell you which candidates are fascist dirtbags who want to kill your neighbors for data center money, but who should you vote *for*? Behold! The janky low-budget website of the clean energy folks who need your votes! https://www.srpcleanenergy.org/ #AZ #Arizona #AzPol #Phoenix #PhoenixAZ #vote #SRP #srpelection (PS!! It’s too la...

Wild that Kagi’s head of ML having a relatively low-hype take on LLMs gets them points from me, but that’s the world we’re in right now I guess. (Maybe Mozilla could take some notes?) https://blog.kagi.com/llms
