it’s crazy to me how much grief i experience from engaging with the world and seeing so much evil prevail it’s devastating to my mental health to read so much people trying to kill me both indirectly (doug ford, brad bradford) and directly (every piece of shit anti-trans chud), it’s exhausting

RE: https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/@chris/116998990952138579 I had a few minutes so I did the same: Harry Potter has become a hate symbol within the queer community, its deeply disappointing to see Tims have this partnership. Give'em a call!

I have a personal theory that hysteria – being hysterical – is in fashion right now, and is downstream from the rise of fascism. ppl with power are hysterical and divorced from reality, and so everyone feeds into this absurd mania: https://ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/ai-mania-is-eviscerating-global-decision-making/

just called my local Liberal MP to complain about bill c-22. i was less informed about the surveillance but i gave him a earful about how age verification is going to harm queer communities & make kids less safe. staffer told me this was the first phone call they've gotten. y'all pick up the phone!

in the past 52 weeks i went dancing 53 times. here are some semi-idiosyncratic beliefs i’ve developed around raves, dance parties, dancing. - one hour dj sets can be good but never great; you need at least two hours to really say something interesting - sets recorded live are better than sets recorded in a studio (not controversial) - crowd quality is very important; a truly great dance party has excellent music and an excellent crowd - the best parties ban cellphones - 3-4am at a party that go...

i shared a bit of skin in a cheeky instagram post and it attracted a chaser — and so i experienced my first bout of unwanted (presumably) male attention. the guy messaged me on a friday, followed up on tuesday, i soft blocked him, he refollowed then sent me another msg the following saturday the persistence is creepy; i found myself scrubbing links to my real identity (it’s an open account) before i hard blocked him. i’d heard of these patterns from female friends but experiencing it first ha...

being queer doesn’t mean you’re a *good* person but it does make you a better person than you would have been otherwise; and this is now a core belief of mine

(fear and trembling posting) abraham's sacrifice of isaac is an act beyond ethics and rationality, because of a deep seated feeling that it'll worth it on the other side to transition your gender is an act beyond ethics and rationality, because of a deep seated feeling that it'll be worth it on the other side problem: do you have an absolute duty to god to transition?

After the recent Rubygems drama, I felt anxious, and trapped, frustrated that I can’t escape evil people trying to dominate my life. I found myself grieving, and mourning the future I grew up thinking we would have; but also feeling hope, that it’s not too late to stop enabling these people, and start choosing kindness. I wrote about these feelings. Join me in building a better future: https://okayfail.com/2025/in-praise-of-dhh.html
