  If using custom domain e-mails, to prevent spam, is it necessary to make addresses unpredictable (e.g.: stem-chaos-stricken@domain), or is servicename@domain good enough? Assuming a password manager is used, even jfav0ohjau4gvncgan19@domain should be OK. On the other hand, I might just be overthinking it.   Which domain registry or specific TLD do you prefer, and why? (Not the registrar. E.g., .com TLD is operated by Verisign.) I wanted a domain for my e-mail. Sounds simple. But I am a major overthinker, so over the period of past 2 weeks (damn!) I’ve been deciding between e-mail providers, choosing potential domain names, choosing a TLD (round 1 - by price and looks), looking through registrars, deciding whom to choose for nameservers, and now I am comparing registry operators (TLD round 2)....

  I finally got a compatible device (Redmi Note 4 - 2017) Hardest part? Unlocking the bootloader. Because it’s Xiaomi. I have screenshots from the whole process, but that’s more of a thing for “mildly infuriating” community. Fun fact: Xiaomi doesn’t even allow installing APKs via ADB without Mi account… Why is it running plasma-desktop? It’s the first UI I tried.   As usual, the answer is alcohol. This DVD burned fine, but didn’t read. I pressed my nail into the side to separate the 2 disc sections, then played around with it*, and finally stripped both the purple dye and reflective layer with isopropyl alcohol. *I of course tried what it would do if re-inserted into the DVD drive. Single half wouldn’t spin up. The spindle didn’t have good enough grip. Placing the half with reflective layer back on top surprisingly made it read as a blank DVD, showing i...
