@heidilifeldman@mastodon.social @foser@mastodon.social it assumes incompetence rather than malice, and does not answer the fundamental question: why is Arthur G. Sulzberger pandering to Trump? The motivations of Jeff Bezos at the WaPo are transparent, but Sulzberger's are less straightforward. The NYT has form, during WW2 they deliberately downplayed the Holocaust even though they had incontrovertible evidence it was happening, because they didn't want to be accused of special pleading for its Jewish owners. Is that what's going on, fear? Is it the general adhesion of oligarchs for someone who is furthering their interests? I haven't seen any good coverage explaining these dynamics, unlike, say, discussion of Judy Miller's despicable cheer leading for the Iraq War. Sulzberger's robust pronouncements on freedom of the press are also at odds with the demonstrated behavior of the NYT.

Proof? Nothing has been done in the past. News out of Scotland is that the former Prince Andrew is under another investigation. TFG being held accountable? Nope. 😡
