@Oaktag@infosec.exchange @mothninja@beige.party I was stuck in an elevator once in a US city I was visiting for work. I was in a building that had a name ("The > Tower"), and I didn't know the street address. Picked up the phone. Person on the other end asks me where I am. "Stuck in the elevator in Company Tower" "Where's that?" "Ummm, y'know, sort of downtown" "No, I mean what's the street address?" Turned out she was in a call centre in India, and neither of us had any idea where I was.

@Oaktag@infosec.exchange @mothninja@beige.party I saw this (unofficial) warning note at my uni once. Translation from German: "Attention! Lift 2 is currently in a temporary modified state showing free falling behaviours (crf. free fall tower). Usage is advised only to people woth an affinity towards extreme accelarations. The TÜV has conducted a safety check." The sticker beneath says: "We can do anything. Except building. University construction office"

  • "Use the alarm, but do not become alarmed" is an odd request for someone stuck in an elevator. Let's hope no one ever had to find out how appropriate that advice is.
