Just to see what all the fuss is about I took a look at the AI-generated clone apps and tried a couple of them out thinking they'd be junk and barely working. The ones I tried - PDFCraft and WordCraft - on linux are 85mb AppImage downloads, run very fast and (so far) seem to do pretty much everything their "real" versions do. The PDFCraft opens PDFs way faster than any other linux pdf app I've tried. Where this all goes (plus the politics of it all) I'...

Pretty much finished my Chaplain on Bike this afternoon. Soon after, one of my kids picked it up and managed to snap off a small piece which has been lost forever somewhere downstairs. It's not noticeable unless you know it's missing... and I notice it! (I'm contemplating adding something like an axe or sword to the side of the bike - I need to check the chaplain's loadout I guess). #warhammer #warhammer40k #blacktemplars

I've just installed Pinepods after YEARS of using Pocket Casts to listen to podcasts. I like the look of Pinepods a lot - especially the flexibility of the smart lists. It also gives me the opportunity to prune my feeds (I have 396 podcast feeds... many of them long dead). The only issue I've hit is that the Pinepods ios app seems to have been taken down recently from the Apple app store. #podcasts #pinepods #selfhosted

Took my sons to see the Street Fighter movie. My youngest - who went dressed in his Ryu costume - absolutely enjoyed it. Visually it's great: flashbacks are presented as anime and the live-action cast is excellent. Plot's a bit diffuse but it's a movie about people punching & kicking each other so I'm not sure how it could be better. (I'd read reviews that claimed it was awful... it's not and was actually pretty engaging). It works hard to...

This is HILARIOUS! Julie Burchill muses over her "foolish" adulation of Donald Trump over the years and realises she was wrong. She doesn't blame herself, though... it was because of the "shocking quality" of those darn Democrats! https://spectator.com/article/shame-on-me-for-being-fooled-by-donald-trump/

It's been a few weeks since I've found any books in the charity shops that have caught my eye. Found this today, though: a brand new copy of the Penguin Classics Moby Dick for £1.35. I know I have about 5 different editions of this novel but I just couldn't resist. #booksbuy

I'm bemused why all our local political and environmental campaigns are organised on Facebook and WhatsApp. Local activists can't seem to understand why someone doesn't use billionaire-controlled communication. Or that these platforms can be shut down so easily (as we've seen recently in the US).

Received an email from HP about pixel-tracking in their emails. Made me realise I need to do some research into this. I'm sure all the email I receive is like this now. #privacy

Reading the reviews at the back of this month's SFX magazine and they gave the Lanterns tv series five stars with a heading that says "One of the most respectful comic adaptations ever." Huh? It's certainly not respectful to the Green Lantern comics and it's a terrible tv show. The leads, Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler are great but it's not an intergalactic space-cops series, it's a mess trying to mix small town True Detective with some...

I just fancied playing a game for 30 minutes or so & loaded Witcher 3 in the Xbox. Needed a 60gb update. So decided to play Skyrim and loaded that. Needes a 30gb update. I guess I'll just read my book instead.

I've run out of miniatures to paint for my Black Templars army (a mixture of not really being confident about what to buy next & having to be careful with money) so I'm back to painting Stormcast. I think golden Stormcast look amazing when finished. I've also got a Skaven spearhead and Tyranid Combat Patrol to finish. Plus working out ways to paint more regularly through better practices to encourage task initiation. #warhammer #ageofsigmar

I'm VERY worried about my Synology NAS. There seems to be a widespread hijacking of them worldwide. I've done everything I think would protect my NAS - disabled admin account, turned off QuickConnect, exposing nothing to the net other than a couple of docker apps through Cloudflare tunnels, checked the firewall, have backups and, yet, I'm still anxious. (I had a Westen Digital networked drive that was wiped in an exploit once and it still haunts me.) #synology

Today is my last day of Mullvad. I'm really stuck choosing an alternative. The best I've seen is ivpn - but have read comments about it being slow and only having a few servers. Maybe I should just sign up for a month and see. It's a shame that Mullvad just shrugged its shoulders about criticisms. I'd appreciate recommendations for a vpn as a Mullvad replacement. #vpn #mullvad

How does it make sense when the media says that average households will save £117 a year with the new OFGEN energy price cap? Especially when the price cap changes four times a year? Am I the only one who notices it goes up just in time for winter and comes down when it gets warmer (though not by as much as it seems to go up (this time only 7%))? #ofgen #ukpolitics #EnergyPriceCap
