Logged my 21st first to find on a #geocache this afternoon. Found 22 minutes after it was published. As per tradition I’ll go place a geocache tomorrow to celebrate. #geocaching

A major cooldown is coming later in the week in the Pacific Northwest. Highs in Hermiston will likely be all the way down in the low- to mid-20s. #ORwx #weather

Freezing temperatures are scraping the ground in the greater #Yellowstone area today as a strong upper level low pressure system brings high elevation snow. #WYwx #MTwx #IDwx #weather

We have recorded 3.0 mm of rain here in Hermiston so far today. First rainfall since installing my new weather station and an impressive value for stratiform rain in the Columbia Basin. #ORwx #weather

@douglasvb @mlanger I went to Belize a few years ago. As far as Central American nations go it seemed nice enough but it was the time of year when they burn the agricultural fields so it was a bit like Eastern Washington during a bad fire season, just with more humidity.

Looking like we will have an upper level trough swing through the Pacific Northwest on Memorial Day, bringing cooler temps, light showers, and wind in the typical windy spots. #WAwx #ORwx #BCstorm #weather

Very excited to say that I am transitioning from weather balloon flight control to commercial growth at Windborne Systems. I started a side project related to my previous experience in the energy industry and they liked it so much they thought I should be doing more stuff like that! I will be working remotely out of Hermiston, Oregon to be close to family. I’ll work some in San Francisco as well as some travel to conferences and to meet with clients.

#Hermiston #weather 20260526 Mostly cloudy today with maybe some spotty drizzle. Cool, high near 19ºC. Clearing tomorrow and quite a bit warmer but the real spice comes Thursday. A strong upper level low is forecast to park in California on Thursday and this will spin up warm air and moisture into Eastern Oregon. Scattered t-storms are possible, though the higher chance of rain is in the mountains and toward Pendleton. Windy Friday with some lingering showers, sunny and mild this weekend. #...

#Hermiston #weather 20260527 Partly cloudy and warmer today with highs around 28ºC. The spice comes tomorrow as a low pressure system spins warm, moist air into the region from the south. Look for Thursday highs around 32ºC with possible t-storms in the afternoon. The SPC has a marginal (level 1/5) risk of severe t-storms for the Columbia Basin and nearby areas with the primary threat being severe wind over 93 km/h. Showers taper off Friday morning with clearing skies and strong winds. Highs...

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the Columbia Basin and Palouse to a slight risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms tomorrow. Storms will develop during the afternoon hours. Primary threat is isolated damaging wind gusts but severe hail is possible too. The storms will be moving SE-NW, which is uncommon for this region and moderately increases damage risk. #WAwx #ORwx #weather

Friday #weather analysis A deep low is moving into the Northern Plains this morning after having brought some (relatively) low elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest yesterday. I'm excited for this map, which adds sounding data from my company on top of the traditional balloons. Today we got additional soundings from the Atlantic, Alaska, Yukon, and Rockies.

I’m on my way to the Bay Area today and on Wednesday I start my new job operating weather balloons around the globe at Windborne Systems! I’m extremely excited to be working to improve upper level weather data! I did some work with balloons in college and it was honestly my favorite part of my college experience.
