BSD Conference :flan_hacker: Hey folks! Are you a BSD aficionado? On Saturday 7 November we will be having a one-day BSD conference in Utrecht, The Netherlands :flan_hurrah: For those whom don't speak Dutch, no worries - the main language is English :flan_cool: It will be a day full of fun, hacking, a talk or two and if you are up for: beers afterwards, downstairs :flan_beer: Sounds like a good day that you want to join? Well, love to have you over! :flan_guns: You will need to get your ticket before November, due to the lunch orders (vegetarian and vegan options are there!). Checkout the website, get your ticket and perhaps submit a talk. And @bsd_nl@mastodon.bsd.cafe! See you there!? #OpenBSD #SecBSD #HardenedBSD #FreeBSD #NetBSD #DragonflyBSD #RUNBSD #EvenMyMotherRunsBSD

I want to publicly thank @dch@bsd.network The FreeBSD port of littleFedi was already ready at release time, and it’s really well done. One of the peculiarities of littleFedi is that it was developed and tested first on the BSDs, then on illumos, and only later on Linux. The first public instance, my own @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it account, runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W with NetBSD. I don’t think many social platforms have started out on NetBSD in recent years. #ThankYou #RunBSD #NetBSD #FreeBSD #OpenBSD #illumos #OwnYourData #Fediverse #littleFedi

Traditional hosting company: “We had a Linux crash. Or maybe systemd. Or KVM. Possibly a kernel issue. There is also a non-zero chance aliens interfered with our servers. We’re not entirely sure what happened. Sorry for the inconvenience.” OpenBSD Amsterdam: “We had a crash. One of the OpenBSD developers looked at it and is now patching OpenBSD so it won’t happen again.” Who’s the boss now? 😎 Thank you, @OpenBSDAms@mastodon.bsd.cafe ! #OpenBSD #RunBSD #IT #SysAdmin

Reposting this because I got :runbsd: #RunBSD stickers at #EuroBSDcon2026 and can now illustrate the post with a proper image :D Also updated the temperatures screenshot. So that's basically how much watts are #NetBSD and #OpenBSD using by default on this AOOSTAR WTR Pro NAS machine and how to have #FreeBSD use less watts as possible while still operating Jail and #bhyve services. https://www.tumfatig.net/2026/overview-of-aoostar-wtr-pro-on-bsd/ #selfhost #homelab
