@rmondello@hachyderm.io I find the #attestation part of that article is actually fair in some aspects. Hardware attestation seems fundamentally #antiuser to me and is typically done via #closedsource #security theater. And I'm not the only one: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/can-you-trust.html While #TOTP is fishable, and the article is weaker for not acknowledging it, I think there is a point to be made that it still is a useful defense against other threat models and has therefore arguably more than zero increased value - whether that makes it "great" or not. Some of us are of the opinion that if #passkeys aren't some trusted computing scheme, perhaps hardware #DRM shouldn't be part of the standard. Beyond at most cheap separate portable hardware key dongles (and even those seem questionable to me as a possibly enforced item). Yet #TPM attestation is in there: https://www.w3.org/TR/webauthn-2/#sctn-tpm-attestation I also find the claim that the writer of the article isn't "understanding the topic being discussed" is weakening your points! Nevertheless, your insight was useful and I appreciate you entering the discussion. #security #TOTP #passkeys

This evening I have learnt that Sia (of Chandelier fame) started a lot earlier than I thought and had songs in the uk charts from 2000!! #TOTP We are catching up with Friday's episodes and despite being presented by Jamie Theakston I am enjoying the second 2000 episode a lot (so far) as a good singalong was had to Bon Jovi

@headfirstonly@mastodon.social the chap I knew was James Russell, I got to know him because at ST World Magazine, when they started off they had a reader offer of a video modulator box for some of the early Atari ST models, and this was designed and put together by James. So he used to come in to the magazine publishing office now and then for purposes, and I found him very good to get on with for a chat about everything. #TOTP

I went away to watch the traitors at 8 o’clock and it was probably massively more entertaining than sticking with #totp but tv is tv and appeals to all of us who need brain out telly from our mundane lives

I’ve spent the latter half of this week suddenly having changed my mind about a publication that is A5 landscape (saddle-stitched short-edge) I am now remaking the whole thing as A5 portrait (but still following manga-style right to left flow, front cover is where Western back cover is) (not because it’s a Japanese Manga, but because I’m left-handed and this is much more natural for me to read so fuck you) I’m also taking the opportunity to embiggen every frame because my pictures are drawn full A4 size per frame or latterly A5 (two up on A4 to scan) and taking them down to the size I had them on the page made them all too small, the fine-ness suffered. So now more bigness. It’s better. But, it means my pagination has no relation to what it was before, I have more pages (I don’t know how many more yet, I’m only a quarter of the way through the remaking of the laying out in Affinity Publisher 2. It’s suitable, as I’m at a break in the story, the first montage has finished, and they’re still in the park as they were before the montage started (only they’re buying ice creams now). #TOTP
