There’s basically two side effect profiles:
It makes you fat, sleepy, confused, constipated / diarrhea / both, and your genitals stop working, but possibly in a different way than your usual everyday hell so maybe it’ll be a little better?
It only has one side effect that only happens 0.00001% of the time: instant horrifyingly painful death.

I have patients all the time who go on and on about how this or that plastic or adhesive or plastic we have in supply smells bad or irritates their skin. I had raised itchy bumps in the exact shape of the EKG electrode pads for over a week after my ED visit for a panic attack with severe chest pain and shortness of breath and the main thing I regret about that visit is the bill.
If I’m putting EKG leads or a tegaderm on you you’ve got way bigger problems than a rash my dude. And if your problem actually is unserious or alternately terminal enough that it’s more comfortable for you to just suffer in the comfort of your own bed, then just do that.
If your problem is benign enough that you can even be worried about a rash more than you are worried about dying painfully from whatever you’re there for, you’re probably lucky enough to have a problem you can handle in the comfort of your own home.

Well the alternative is usually slowly dying / getting debilitated by it over the course of several decades.
Got stuck as the charge nurse of acute psych almost every single night I worked for over a year. "But no one else can handle it like you" (I'm aware–acute is what I *do*) but I needed a fucking break. I told them 1/3 days I wanted to either be a floor nurse on med-psych or be the BERRT / consult nurse to the medsurg nurses for behavioral codes. They humored me one day a month for like three months then shoved my head right back under.
Then the supervisor came in to critique my morning reports twice in one week and honestly I didn't even snap I literally just said "OK understood can I finish report now" so she tried to corner me in a side room but I haven't survived ten years in acute psych without major injury by not being able to clock aggressive body language so I just walked right back into the nurses station to let everybody see her yell at me then handed her my badge and keys and left. Had a new job lined up within the week.
Current boss started out with the same sort of compliments like "oh you're so calm when people are threatening to murder you" etc like yeah, as I said, this is what I *do,* and once I was settled in, everybody got used to asking me for advice on the EMR, meds, they got me teaching the violence deescalation classes the supervisor was tired of, made myself indispensable etc, I straight up told her I'll do all of this, you can even enjoy my fun side projects I get up to when I'm bored–but if you make me charge nurse or let the house supers get shitty with me I'm out as soon as my contract is up.
So far she hasn't pushed it.
Meanwhile when lesbians talk to me I'm like "wrong kinda gay, sweetie."

Less "competitive" mindset I think. I feel like homophobia has resulted in a lot of men taking their pent up sexual aggression out on women when they might otherwise be able to identify themselves as bi and just work out those feelings with another dude. Instead we have all these men spiraling into emotional black holes because women don't want them right this second. I've heard anecdotally that if everyone felt 100% comfortable being honest bi people would probably be the true majority. So it's not like it would fix the incel problem but there might be few enough that they couldn't concentrate into inescapable singularities.

Most psych nurses will tell you we love our patients for the most part (we get worried when the little old dual schiz / dementia homeless ladies with no teeth *stop* threatening to murder us) but admin + families are hell.

I mean it's pretty obvious what they meant especially if you have a pretty basic cultural background.
One of my points of pride is actually using my teeth. A light scrape or nibble dramatically increases tactile sensitivity and emotional intensity. If you know how to simultaneously integrate the tongue and lips properly you can really leverage that "crazy girl sex" that drives dudes fucking nuts. I may have had years of therapy but there's a few holdovers just because crazy girls do it better. The other big thing is gregariousness because once you learn to use it *with* real day-to-day support and respect for people it just magnifies it.

Real adulthood is knowing there's no logical way to unconditionally prove those particular negatives. What you do with that information is another discussion.
Edit: Also if anybody is interested in reading up in an absolutely fascinating phenomenon, this was a topic that came up during my hospice / palliative care rotations. This article in particular is a systematic review from last year.
One of the most fascinating things about this phenomenon is that it's markedly different from the hallucinations seen with psychosis and delirium (which I'm more familiar with, my specialty being psychiatry). In particular the person experiencing it presents with orientation and cognition that is completely logical, linear, and otherwise intact.
A patient with psychosis often presents with poor understanding of their situation overall, such as not knowing where they are, not remembering recent events, or sometimes not even recognizing themselves. Their speech also usually presents with either thought blocking / poverty of thought, or the opposite—tangentiality / flight of ideas where their statements don't logically follow each other.
Meanwhile patients reporting death visions are typically able to accurately recall where they are, what has been happening, what is likely to happen next, and retain the ability to have linear and reality based discussions. They just also report seeing deceased family or pets, religious figures, etc.

Reminds me of Ancillary Justice / The Imperial Radch series. Every once in a while you get hints like "she could tell this person had a specific gender in this culture based on how she wore her facial hair, but she could never remember" because the main character (and most of the story) is in the context of a society where gender doesn't exist and everyone is referred to with English feminine pronouns.

Tbh the hose / sprayer kind is actually super handy for spraying out the bedside puke bucket. You can also use it for removing the large solids from reusable pads or incontinence garments or pet waste on a reusable or very rudely diy'ed puppy pad. I've spent so much time working with toilets that have a pull down nozzle for cleaning equipment that it's just plain handy to have one at home for when the cat pukes on my favorite robe. You can also use it for a lot of types of food waste if you don't have a garbage disposal.
Walmart does the same. Pushes out all the local grocers first.
Legitimately why I picked up tarot reading though. I needed an introspective mindfulness activity. I used to do cognitive behavioral therapy with spreadsheets. It was informative but exhausting. I think it gave me a good set of foundational concepts, but realistically humans are just fundamentally meant to surround themselves with pretty rocks while talking about how much they personally relate to shared culturally inherited stories. And I just love explaining Gnosticism to people in the most chaotic way possible.

As an aside, I work inpatient psychiatry where it’s not so much that they’re always right as much as that it’s pointless and even counterproductive to argue. In those situations you don’t say “but this is a-” you say “I really wanna talk over the details of how to get you exactly what you want” then try to elicit the details of (to use this example) what they think a macchiato is.
Now, the reason I prefer working inpatient psychiatry as opposed to costumer service is that when they start yelling I get to say “oh, my apologies. I’ll come back when you’re more ready to talk about this!” and just leave. And then if they follow me to keep yelling…
The list of things I’m not allowed to do will always be longer than the list of things the waiter is legally not allowed to do. The waiter can legally just fight back, and I’m never allowed to do that. But the second they become significantly verbally threatening or physically threatening in any way, the list of things I’m not allowed to do to someone as part of my job suddenly becomes much shorter than the waiter’s.

Admittedly a lot of people think “voluntary” makes this a customer service situation where I’m not allowed to do that when the reality is that I just have to call somebody afterward to decide whether we’re changing their status to involuntary or kicking them out and calling the cops.
In that exact moment where I judge a threat to self or others I’m 100% allowed to use my judgment to neutralize the threat provided I a) maintain their hemodynamic stability and b) only do what is precisely necessary to neutralize that threat. Now that exact risk assessment doesn’t have as much formal training behind it as I think it should but it’s also usually at least partially a team decision and if the assigned nurse is newish there’s usually at least one nurse involved who has a decade plus experience (unfortunately these days that’s usually me). But like I said, there’s always a list of things I’m not allowed to do, but once significant threats of or actual violence happens, that list gets very short very quickly.
A lot of people think there’s this secret third option where they’re just allowed to buck up at my techs and throw things at them and that is just 0% ever a thing. I’ll let them get one incidence of bucking up at me or throwing something small at me like a small paperback just so I can truthfully document that I tried to go the least restrictive route, but I never ask my subordinates to take on that risk since they don’t have as many options to escape or get the situation back under control.

And honestly bisexual is just such a stable fork overall. It functions well with mainstream architectures but also makes a great entry point into sexualities that aren’t expressed in binary format. AND if you actually do the work of reading into the docs you find out that it’s not even just limited to the traditional two-gender dichotomy. So if you really really need some super specific fork of a fork of a fork for some super specifically narrow use-case that’s fine, but honestly in 90% of the cases bisexual actually covers most of the features you need and is widely recognized / compatible.

I made myself a password generator where you input how long the password needs to be, + other requirements (length, number, special characters (there’s an input box for which ones are allowed) then it subtracts the number / special character from the total required length, chooses a random combo of 3-7 letter words that will make exactly the required length, then adds back in a random number and special character and capitalizes one of the words. Probably not as safe as a completely random password but waaay easier to remember.

Some of our policing problems in the US are related. You don’t need to be half as reactive if there’s few if any guns in public circulation. We had an involuntary patient get dropped off recently by the usual cups + a community mental health worker (who was wearing a kevlar vest btw). I told her I could never do what she does because I love my violent asshole babies but I could never care for them outside of my meticulously controlled violent asshole playpen and she was like “oh yeah I could never do this without him” (points at the cop). There’s a lot that needs to change about policing in the US but some of it isn’t changeable without addressing some of the underlying violence problems (like random guns everywhere with minimal safeguards against misuse).

Not saying that this is always the case but it can be substance abuse related. Substances let the brain avoid confronting the “crises” that would otherwise result in psychosocial growth and development. When the person gets sober they have to pick up where they left off meaning if they used for a decade or more they’re quite behind.
The sample / fill-in medical advance directive provided by my state has a section for “what tasks / obligations do you want carried out on your behalf” and one of the examples provided is pet care, but this seems like a poor way to state that.

I work with a vulnerable population. In addition to every job doing piss testing my fingerprints and DNA get recorded and checked against unsolved assaults / murders. Nothing ever comes up but I always worry I’m gonna be like the last person that touched a vase before the dude that bashed somebody’s head in with it and the dude who did it isn’t in any databases and I’m gonna have to answer a bunch of intrusive questions.
