My favorite thing about LLM agents is that the primary "attack vector" is the equivalent of this Homestar Runner bit, and it actually works and cannot ever truly be fixed due to how LLMs work.

I wish people understood that "exploit found in open-source project" is how open-source projects get MORE, not LESS secure.
You do not "make software without vulnerabilities." You fix them when they are found, just like other bugs. "Vulnerability found" does not mean "stop using permanently"
Critically, closed-source programs don't even need to be exploited for your information to be at risk. I'd rather my data be in plaintext on Mastodon than quantum-safe encrypted in Facebook's database.
Every Creationist should have to tell a cassowary "You're not related to dinosaurs". See what they have to say about it.

People on TV are always like, "He's nervous; he's obviously lying".
Me after making a 3-minute phone call to customer service:
- Wake up
- Scream
- Go back to bed
How to pick a social media platform:
If you have to self-censor a common word like "kill" or "fuck" for fear of an Algorithm...
Don't fucking use that platform. Kill it.

When he's hunting, he has this look of...of..."mom forgot me in the airport lobby" is the only way I can describe it.

JRPGs really are the goat. I'll never get tired of a bunch of teenagers from different backgrounds banding together to murder god.
I adore how every Phoenix Wright character more or less acknowledges Wright is a total fraud and openly ponders "how can he keep getting away with it?"
The series is completely self-aware and far better for it.

Lots of comparisons of AI to the .com boom and let me tell you:
Pets.com did not bomb any school children.
This is not even in the same ballpark.

I love stuff like tortie patterns. To express her exact coat in terms of black/white/orange across her whole body is probably beyond any current human science, millions of exact data points.
Yet there it is, reproduced the same way every time a hair is shed. All for a random mutation not meaningfully related to survival or anything at all.
I am baffled by people unable to find wonder in the world without some "god" or whatever. Just...look around you.

UX is the glow-up software needs, not LLM coding assistants.
We have too much code, not too little. We need good programs, not more programs.
Think you can't draw?
Look at an AI-generated YouTube thumbnail.
You can do better than that, and some dumb motherfucker paid a company to 'make' that.
So if you want to draw, just draw.
Thirsty? 🫗
Should you REALLY have that glass of water when datacenters go dry?

For real, it is like 50% of the bsky trending page. The first thing I saw about it on here was, well, this, and I already feel bad for indirectly referencing it via this post 💧

Why I love Mastodon: someone famous got married to someone else famous today and my wife told me about it. I didn’t see one person talking about it here. Thanks for being great.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social I just finally have time to write, and have a novel idea in mind...and this stuff just kills my motivation so much. Everything is terrible.

Anyone want to play #RiverCityGirls 2 with me, ideally with voice chat?
It's apparently the next Epic Game Store freebie, and I already have a PS5 copy. Not sure if crossplay.

What #cat litter does everyone swear by? I have a Litter Robot and was looking to downgrade from Pretty Litter since it's a bit expensive.
Got some cheapo stuff from Aldis and I can already tell by the smell it just isn't as good.

I love that Aino's name is "I know".
Always a sucker for the girl genius trope--and if she's a lazy goblin too, well, there you go.

#Anime fans are the last ones who have it good as far as streaming services go. I don't want to give them too much credit, but you want to watch anime, you get crunchyroll.
You want to watch anything else...break out a map, a codex, a decoder ring, a printed copy of Wikipedia, and a TV guide from 1996, and if you're lucky you can find a $20/ a month service that has exactly that show and nothing else you like.

Would anyone like to join me for some #DwarfFortress on Twitch in about 2-3 hours?
Some slight backseating might be welcome; I am still figuring out "light aquifers" and I am pretty out of date with the changes to the Steam version.
But...it's got dinosaurs now. 💞

#PreCure's dedication to references/wordplay is pretty fun.
The Wiki has an impressively exhaustive set of articles with trivia for all the wordplay and such: https://prettycure.fandom.com/wiki/Meitantei_Pretty_Cure!#Trivia
Side note: I am watching Killed Again Mr. Detective and I keep hearing "Hanninda!", the monster's name in Star Detective Precure. It is based on "han'nin" (culprit) and "da" (to be), so "(I) am the culprit". Hey, kids shows shouldn't be TOO subtle.

Voice commands, white balance, and dimming are cool features to have but I'm not buying "smart lights" again.
They have burned out or otherwise had issues way too often, almost incandescent bulb levels of needing replacement.
They seem to accidentally DoS attack your router if they call come on at once (power outage) too.
Smart switches might be okay but my house isn't wired for em. You don't want to depend on Google/Amazon/apple anyway.

Of course, the thought of owning another printer has doused my enthusiasm. I am also trying to self-host as much as I can.

@andypiper@macaw.social The European Commission just reflexively hates tech.
They're often accidentally right because big tech sucks ass, but I wish people would stop pretending they're doing it on purpose or with some morals in mind.
