I haven’t been properly inside a tech office since before the pandemic and thus I am feeling weirdly anxious about going to one next week.
What do you mean I’m going to be inside a building that needs me to have a badge and I need to wear uncomfortable clothes and be “professional”

I’m maybe free for dinner tonight if anyone I know in Munich is free (I’ll just have to lug myself to/from Garching 🥲)
I need to go to Munich (well Garching) for ~4 hours, on less than a weeks notice, and trying to do this without spending a night in Munich is proving to be a fun logistical challenge and a lot of hopes for no ICE delays 🥲

I miss when the average engineer seemed to actually enjoy the process of engineering.
I get that the pandemic and state of the world made everything suck, but JFC it’s wild to me that people no longer enjoy the act of making and instead enjoy the act of middle managing more.
Physio today was the “do the thing until it fails” kind of physio and I learnt new ways that muscles can hurt but the fact that I learnt them in the process of “lifting my arm” is scary actually.
OTOH more progress which is good?

(Thankfully they slammed on the brakes so I didn’t go down and mess up my arm more… but… seriously?!)

Hooked my arm up to an electric stimulation machine for the first time in the hope it helps with swelling but jfc it’s so weird to just have your arm be lightly electrocuted at constantly changing intervals
A (German/italian/English speaking) glass friend is looking for a (guest?) room in #Munich from April-July, 1 night a week (Weds-Thurs - because they lecture at one of the universities)
They only have a small budget, but can give you glass 😅

The “electrocute my muscles” machine is so weird
In someways I’m very thankful to live in a country that gives you free* access to “cutting edge” medical interventions for things (the style of thing in my arm is only 10 years old, and so much more expensive than shittier techniques that the UK/US don’t use it yet)
but it also sucks that outside of papers (which focus on the recovery of people >60) that I can’t find other peoples recovery processes to compare to/understand 😭
The weirdest part about this stupid fucking broken shoulder is just how much all of life comes crashing to a halt in an instant.
And now I’m in “recovery” having no idea how long until it can start again
On the plus side I can open a bottle of water now
On the downside it takes an hour and a lot of crying in pain when already in need of a pain killer 🙃

My neighbors are currently discussing destroying or throwing away a bike that happens to be parked in the basement area because why be normal about anything when you can casually discuss committing crimes instead
