500 € is the cheaper side of decent new bikes… Inflation is a bitch. Still, you can’t even buy only the tires of many cars for that price. It’s dirt cheap to cycle.

Maybe the best solution is to build a Truman show like simulated world and contain the Trump problem in there.

The efficiency of an EV SUV will never be anywhere near the efficiency of an (electric) bicycle. Motor and battery efficiency also improves for bicycles. The bicycle will always need only a fraction of the resources, in materials, electricity and occupied space.

It embeds the existing dominant individual, resource-wasting mode of transport even deeper into the culture (and urban planning). That makes it a negative for urban environments. Bit different story in very sparsely populated areas.

I'm assuming labour cost is still pretty low in Southern Italy, because in North/Western Europe you can have a kitchen and a bathroom renovated for that money, but no way build an entire house.

Nazis never achieved absolute majority of the vote. Only after being enabled by the "conservative right" did they basically abolish the state and founded a new one where only 1 party was allowed.

It's not only speculation, it's also because some locations are a lot more wanted by many people to live there: right next to a big park, walkable neighbourhood, city amenities nearby but few city problems, no highway audible when sleeping with open window et cetera et cetera. More people want to live in prime locations than prime location housing is available. The big scam are the insane prices for run down shoebox-apartments in shitty locations.

"trick some of them accidentally" is definitely underestimating average users. In my experience 95% + of all users click consent once, all is stored forever and they'll never see the banner again, for sure not on the same device. They don't do adblocking, no automatic cookie deleting, in fact no browser extensions at all. The average fediverse user is a weird mix of a 1990's internet poweruser with a today tech kid trying to make it into the future technologies on their own terms and by faaaar not an average user visiting average website on average devices with average browsers and configurations. In short: most people don't experience this 'problem' like us, because they consent by default to anything you throw at them and are then in the gated tracking paradise where there's barely any cookienagging, visiting the same handful of websites all the time anyway.

But some wealthy pockets with strong political connections got filled along the way during privatization and that's all they cared about.

I buy loads and loads of old vinyl records from various discount bins, flea markets and thrift stores. If it’s 1 or 2 €: I often just buy blind if cover is somewhat appealing to me or because artists names ring a bell for me. If I like what I hear, I obtain an mp3 copy of it (various sources) for my library. If I really liked it and can’t find it digitally (it happens): I record my own vinyl record to have a digital copy. My file preference is mp3 VBR. I think flac is overkill for most basic soundsystems and human ears and they are not worth the enormous filesize difference.

Which isn’t a bad thing imo in the long-term. Fossil fuel should be expensive. It helps people make better decisions, maybe they’ll get an e-bike or e-car, install the balcony solar panels after all, insulate their house a bit better instead of traveling 4x per year etc etc

It’s kind of the goal in this case. Balancing between making gas exports for Russia harder and less rewarding, while maintaining some import to EU somehow so EU citizens don’t freeze and economy keeps producing. It’s more a political geopolitical game than a capitalist one in this case.

37" :') Filesize itself usually isn’t relevant. A high resolution video in a very large file size will rarely cause playback issues on most devices. In my experience the bottleneck of a setup is almost always first encountered with highly compressed video with a large resolution. Also, not everyone hoards. Some people look for 4k, watch once and delete. They don’t even seed. Anyhow, the main thing to me is content quality. I can watch a solid movie in poor quality, but I couldn’t watch certain crappy movies in super duper high resolution quality even I would be paid for it

For me GTA peaked with the originals in 1997-1999 and had a nice little comeback in 2013. Hyperreality is not what I need in games…

Depends on your TV, taste, budget. A good movie at 480p can be watchable. A good movie at 720p is usually very fine for me. 1080p is my upper limit. Ik have a small TV. Resolution doesn’t matter all that much if your TV isn’t 2 meters wide. Small files with high resolution are very strongly compressed. Some devices might struggle with playing them causing lags or difficult to fast forward or backward etc. That would be more annoying to me than a lowish resolution. Also depends who ripped it (did they know what they were doing?) and from which source. Webdl or DVD sourced are normally very watchable in lower resolutions if ripped by skilled people.
