@Retreival9096@hachyderm.io @sidalsolgun@infosec.exchange @Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange You might not know if a teacher said this to your child... It's terrible and stupid and gross, and a very large school board where I live won't even intelligently talk about this stuff (Calgary Board of Education)

@petrillic @rk @norootcause The only interview I almost just walked out on was some dumb "write this in C++ on the whiteboard" which is already monumentally stupid -- but then one of the interviewers was like "you missed some braces here, and here". That was the last part I really heard ;) since I at least _mentally_ left the interview at that point

@dangoodin@infosec.exchange https://www.crowdsupply.com/cool-tech-zone/tangara is cool but not sure if it'll "be for sale" after the campaign is fulfilled (many things on crowd supply do go that route)

@sidepony @JeffGrigg @AmyZenunim willing to share more details? My parent's doctor uses some variant if this (and the medical software I've personally seen and worked on was bad on fundamental levels let alone security or any other specific metric)

@geodarcy@yeg.bike @Chigaze@cosocial.ca @lorimolson@mstdn.ca @WTL@mastodon.social

@groved@mastodon.social @slink@fosstodon.org @0xKaishakunin@mastodon.social I also think we should celebrate any progress at all -- going from "yolo this tarball via http" to "https" doesn't solve everything but is still "better". Similarly going from unsigned binaries to signed via non-airgapped key is still "better" since Eve has to steal a key *and* compromise a binary. Certainly some risk of "false sense of security" there but ....

@tante@tldr.nettime.org Universal Basic Income

@dougcuff@ottawa.place @CStamp@mastodon.social I grew up in the kool-aid/tang time, but (natural) juice was considered "a treat". Very occasionally we'd buy boxed cereal, but never anything "sweet". Halloween candy had limits (no suckers or hard candy) and (theoretically) one per day.

@petrillic @rk @norootcause draw out "meta-x lsp-mode" in cursive...

@slink@fosstodon.org LGTM. On a past project we'd also toyed with putting the "next release" public key (next year for your proposed flow) in the current release.

@slink@fosstodon.org @0xKaishakunin@mastodon.social reproducible builds are great but in some ways orthogonal to "how to sign". One benefit you can only really get from fully reproducible builds is that multiple devs can build, confirm and sign with their own keys.

@Anarcat @franklinlopez a lot of it is PLA from what I understand which is "biodegradable" (in commercial sized composers) AFAIK but not sure how realistic that is or if this means "into smaller plastic" or "actually breaking down" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid

@cameron_talley@mastodon.online Reminds me of this classic :)

@reidparker_@aus.social Teachers are awesome (and you can always tell who are the assholes in the room to avoid if they disagree with this statement)

@mergerson@mastodon.social @sjjphd@dair-community.social @chanda@blacktwitter.io How do we (non-black longer-term mastondon users) help? (I've never seen more new followers than the last couple weeks, and have "generally" found the fediverse less shitty than birdsite -- but unfortunately there are obviously still assholes and bad things happening :( as you've brought up..)

@sethmlarson @miketheman @pypi @vagrantc I'm interested in (once again) publishing my own signed packages on PyPI -- does this happen to help there?
