@cstross@wandering.shop Anything that helps bypass the Eurostar cost/inconvenience shambles would be welcome. Huge additional points if it was made bike friendly too!

@ReggieHere@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us to be this far in to the 21st century and not understand surveillance capitalism, as a politician, is a pretty scary place (for those of us represented by these people) to be!

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us BTW https://gwallter.com/politics/who-is-louis-mosley.html like it says; you can't choose your ancestors, but when your grandad was Oswald Mosley, you might think twice about taking a role leading a company named after Sauron's all seeing eye of corruption, who (for anyone paying even moderate attention) are the vanguard of tech-bro fascism....
Hey there #BikeTooter my friend Barney is leading out another edition of his #Vintage cycle rally in #Cambridge on Saturday 9th May. A perfect opportunity to get dressed up and bring out some of your #cycling esoterica.
There are normally prizes/recogniton for the best outfit, oldest bike (1896 last year, I believe). There'll be a planed, mostly traffic free, route with opportunities for refreshments along the way. Informal fancy dress fun on a bike, come along if you can, all are welcome!

@ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us The other thing i asked my mp was if they thought Peter Thiel was a fit and proper person, for a nominally progressive govt, to deal with and then had to follow up when I realised they couldn't answer because govt hadn't procured the service, but direct awarded it on the back of some shady business with Mandelson....

Hey there #BikeTooter the time is nearly upon us, so this is a quick reminder that the
#Cambridge #Vintage Cycle Rally is happening in #Cambridge on Saturday 9th May 2026.
Starting at the #Technology Museum at 1030 this is a great fun day out on retro and vintage #bikes taking in a gentle ride (interspersed with some public houses) and a chance to show off your more esoteric #cycling and #fashion choices.
You can register your interest to join us here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cambridge-vintage-cycle-rally-2026-tickets-1985840335902
Anyone else been bitten by the botched handover of #Octaplus to #TheOneBroadband #ISP?
They've scuppered my fixed IP (therefore breaking all my #homelab services) and the general internet access today as been flakey AF.
No information, no response from inquiries on their webform and the phonelines go to VM, disappointing.....
Quick Friday night #selfhosted #homelab help sought, please.
I've got @jellyfin@mastodon.online #jellyfin running on a @yunohost@toot.aquilenet.fr server (and generally working pretty well) but I can't see my #DLNA endpoint from it (plugin installed and enabled etc). The endpoint is #GmediaRender on a Nanopi Neo and I can see (and play to) it from BubbleUpnP on my phone.
I think I might have to do some sort of 'hairpin nat' thing with my router, but my network skills are weak.
Can anyone set me in the right direction please?

I narrowed it down to the qpwgraph.conf file in /.config/rncbc.org/ backed that up and with a combination of editing stuff, quitting #qpwgraph and restarting it again I can see my edits now being written to the file and they seem to be sticking.
Seems a bit odd to have to quit the app to make it write the edits to the file, but if it's working I'll not complain too loudly about a little ghost in the machine.
Stoked! Just secured tickets for the wonderful @joshuaidehen@mastodon.social#gig in #Cambridge in april.
Fell in love when I saw him eat #BaxterDury alive in support and now looking forward to a spanking mid-week boogie!

Hoping that Sunday is a better day for asking #selfhosted support questions, cos I really want to get #jellyfin playing out of 'the big speakers' and I need #DLNA to do that.
My networking skills are weak I'm afraid so even just troubleshooting this issue is a challenge!

@mosgaard Thanks, I'll try that.
I just don't understand the point of being able to rename the nodes (as detailed in the user guide, which highlights both f2 and double click will enable you to do so) but for that naming not to 'stick'
I should note it does remember my midi input port naming (but not the outputs?!)

Another day gone with no contact from (or means to make contact with) #TheOneBroadband seems like the #Octaplus handover is as borked as ever. My (paid extra for) fixed IP is gone and the quality of the connection this afternoon has been sub-optimal.
Anyone got any tips for a cost conscious UK ISP on #CityFibre that will provide a fixed IP also?
Excited to be going to see @joshuaidehen@mastodon.social in #Cambridge this week, he's got some absolute #bangers!
Quick #couchpeloton #AmstelGold prediction: the winner will not skull his beer.

@ScottishGreens I think it's an error to talk about this as pay capping. Rather it should be described as a rising minimum. CEOs (etc) pay should not be capped, but that doesn't mean that it should be allowed to be paid at a rate so far in excess of everybody else. The point of a ratio type policy is surely to regulate some truth in to the idea that 'a rising tide raises all ships'?

@jmaris@eupolicy.social @kde@floss.social I followed this through to distrochooser and took their survey out of interest (happy with Debian already, really).
Why is systemd seemingly a bone of contention/ showstopper for some people? (What even is systemd?)
