@twoowls73@mastodon.scot A huge problem for me in the switch to #SMD #electronics beyond my shaky hands, was #floorLoss. And even if you do find your #passives, can you easily tell what they are, eg value?

@dansup@mastodon.social That was a very concrete technical debt!

@mihamarkic@mastodon.social @codeofamor@social.codeofamor.net @Elizafox@social.treehouse.systems ... which are being used less and less.

@muddle@infosec.exchange @Unixbigot@aus.social I created an early Internet provider in the UK, initially email (with bang paths) and USENET over UUCP ... only later did fancy-pants live IP become possible!

@Mrfunkedude@beige.party NO NO NO! Don't you dare. Spent an hour with cancellations at our cable provider already today! In the end we were forced to accept a price CUT and an extra service...

@lhbm@mastodon.social @shanselman@hachyderm.io "Not in a train, not in a tree, Not in a car, caller let me be!"

@Jirikiha@raphus.social @jschauma@mstdn.social one can still code as if it's 1999, for 9600 baud!

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party You outed me without permission, you monster!

@amiserabilist@beige.party @davep@infosec.exchange And the red card? Could that be re-examined? Not Narwhals' fault that they are a bit pokey when going for the ball...

@johncarlosbaez@mathstodon.xyz I have little hand-eye coordination and bad enough shakes that I can't really solder anything less than 0.1" pitch! But I created a start-up based on embedded electronics, and I helped a molecular biologist with his PhD lab work, so there is indeed hope!

@Mrfunkedude@beige.party You forgot to cancel Monday with the supplier again?

@brunogirin@mastodon.me.uk @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @wood5y@mastodonapp.uk Several problems, regarding humans as fungible is not a way to have a motivated *company* in a wider use of that word, and as Bruno points out, HR is often working actively against staff outside the C-suite which is why "Human Remains" is often what I expand the initialism to in my head. There are exceptions, but I've met a lot of HR of all company sizes, and their outcome is net-negative IMHO.

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party Commuters banding togther to get into the office in London for 09:00 after British Rail fluffs its one job again...

@Edent@mastodon.social Maybe WP should add checks for Java applets and ActiveX?

@srol@mellified.men How many plans can a Cannes canning planner can, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party I am merely struggling a little with signal failure and animals on the line at Oxshott... 🫂

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party I want all A-grades!

@muddle@infosec.exchange @Unixbigot@aus.social Nope: worked with them a bit, eg imported a second-hand Sun workstation to be their first DNS server! I also believe that I created the £10/month price point that Demon went with too (for a rather more capable service than mine).

@amiserabilist@beige.party @davep@infosec.exchange What about a Narwhal Peace Prize then?

@davep@infosec.exchange @amiserabilist@beige.party but the Narwhals want one morererer!11!!?!

@minego@pdx.social As many cans as a canny can-canning canner can can if a good cook could cook food?

@SnowyCA@social.vivaldi.net @Nickiquote@mstdn.social @TheBreadmonkey@beige.party @theaardvark@mastodon.me.uk The manufacturer could get sued either way...

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Such a PICKY establishment...

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange I run Google and Ecosia and DDG with AI off by default.

@darwinwoodka@mastodon.social @dpk@chaos.social @jschauma@mstdn.social @janl@narrativ.es I had autoplay .au jump scare audio on our ISP home page around then!

@CinnamonCatYurilover@sharkey.skydevs.me or artificial insemination

@josh0@babka.social @pikesley@mastodon.me.uk @TheBreadmonkey@beige.party that's what THEY want you to think that they want you to think.

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party That's just the Thames crossing at Wallingford after a bit of drizzle...

@hedders@mas.to that had better be hand-tied silk...

@hedders@mas.to management or IT consultant, though that used to be my signature...

@ariels@hachyderm.io @Lana@beige.party I had exactly the same experience on visiting the US from the UK. One of the early reasons to give up visiting. Then there was climate change. Now we have ... the current administration...

@TheMightyGit @neil The Yorkshire of my schooldays...

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Not so quiet when Woo-Ping is open?

@u0421793@toot.pikopublish.ing @ianbetteridge@social.vivaldi.net That's harsh - the aesthetic is just a little different.

And currently I am interrupted by an apparent fault in the extension lead that I was going to use!

@fuzztech@infosec.exchange I feel that the Fediverse needs the wisdom of @TheBreadmonkey@beige.party on this, urgently. And possibly a scientific comparison with Ye Olde Creme Eggs...

Ah, fixed! The live wire had come unscrewed in the trailing socket - now fixed and other connections tightened...

@niconiconi@mk.absturztau.be A bootstrap bootcamp?

@j5v@mastodon.social in this case I think it is more worry by installers about complexity.

@staringatclouds@mstdn.social @iFixit@mastodon.social Likewise for me with my Fairphone 1 and then 3 (still going)!

@i_give_u_worms@beige.party @TheBreadmonkey@beige.party Now I want the Soundcloud URL for that... Maybe a psytrance remix also.

@blog Def think that not everyone shows themselves worthy of a full adulting licence when they pass 18 or 21 or whatever - even me at times. Should you be able unconditionally to drink and/or bring children into the world if you are going to those badly and hurt other people? OTOH should you be allowed to do a wider range of things than is currently allowed if you show yourself able to handle them safely/well/...?

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party nAshUrOOl iMUUnITY!

@j5v@mastodon.social actually it was a freebie!

@neil ... and accompanied by all great-grandparents in person.

@j5v@mastodon.social this is almost more about making full use of the low-cost tools that we already have

@Edent email and SMS done...

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange I clearly remember at least one much more misreadable London Cantonese(?) restaurant name that eventually had to change to avoid repeated vandalism. Mr Google suggests that one glossed translation of its name might be "stuffed to the brim"...

@fuzztech@infosec.exchange @TheBreadmonkey@beige.party Where is the crowd when it's needed? @Kierkegaanks @MAJ1 @julianlawson @Shivviness@mastodon.social @wendinoakland @amiserabilist @JustaJason007 @DamonHD@mastodon.social @TwoClownsEating @TheBreadmonkey @Soldusty @revndm@mastodon.social @Nickiquote @ColesStreetPothole
