Wow, #monsterdon. Watching a bit of the Sting on my own time on Monday, it looks like I missed out on a doozy. A Monster in the Everglades--my neck of the woods, as I used to live near the headwaters--and a creepy monster wearing scuba diving flippers. For the record, I would not recommend the Glades for spring break, though my parents sent my sister and I on a canoe trip down a Florida river for a week with a group during a break. Swirling gators under the canoe frequently. Not recommended.

A few people from my MFA program wrote to me soon after graduation years ago, and I got back to them somehow, but at the time, I guess I felt too pressed by things that were happening in real time to commit myself to writing via snailmail. Anyway, it is a lost art. When I hear of threats to the continued existence of our postal service, I sometimes think of writing letters, penpals, more personal, thoughtful communication. I feel this more keenly now during a more fraught time in the world.

Watching a Bulwark recording of the very large protest at the Kennedy Center. It's good to see it. I do feel a bit cynical that anything can happen, but it is heartening to see people out and about regarding anything representing a pushback on anything trumpy.

@Lana@beige.party Well, I did watch some of this. Reporters were there a lot of whom report truth to the public even contra Trump expectations and despite threats and some were deservedly rewarded. Trump is an afterthought who is ignored as per unwelcome drunken uncle.

I had a conversation with a local who moved here as an infant with his parents who fled Castro. I have thought many times in recent days of my elder neighbors during a former life when I was married. We lived in a neighborhood that was formerly a naval base. It's a very nice neighborhood and our neighbors were fairly well off. They had fled Castro. And now I think of this narrow vote in the Supreme Court over birthright citizenship and how Rubio himself may not have been considered a citizen.
