Hard to imagine that they did that on purpose. That means that they issued a ruling while not having a clue what the consequences could be. They just wanted to lick Trumps arse again.

In NZ we have a choice. Free power evening/nights during the week or free power in the weekend from 9-5. (We choose the weekend and it saves us between 10 - 20% on the power bill.

If they 'must' approve that mining license, one of the conditions 'must' be: No toxic chemicals to be used for processing and no dams to control toxic waste. Dry concentrating following crushing may be an option. Concentrate can be trucked off site for further processing in a controlled environment.
Perhaps a reasonable compromise?

The discovery process could be an interesting one. Have AI sort all id's with and without consent.

"Thirty-three states have banded together to sue Meta, alleging that the company was exploiting its young users on Instagram and Facebook for profit, including by collecting data from children without parental consent."
The damages could be as high as $1.4 trillion, nearly the same as Meta's market capitalization at just above $1.5 trillion.

It's not a snub. It's common sense as the US uses all information they gather to their own advantage.

The $12 Trillion bait Putin is dangling in front of the US team is causing a Fata Morgana showing a Utopia that will never happen because of that. The US needs to be removed from any peace talks with Russia.

The best assistance you can provide in a case like this is to hit that 'chief' really hard on his throat. He will be choking and probably need emergency 1st aid, but he won't do this again any time soon.

Don't forget: everything in the US during the World Cup is super-inflated and you get much more for your buck if you go elsewhere. And not the same level of stress. You never know, you might end up in Guantanamo Bay or similar god-forgotten place with no way back.

A similar thing happens with the 'Link to Windows' function. The last thing you have to 'allow' is that it can access modify and delete all files on the linked devices. No option to not allow. Without allowing that, it won't work. Bastards. They can do anything with the files on the connected devices and they would send it straight to the US.

Call me an idiot or a dreamer, but all the scientists against this kind of development should be able to generate enough money to buy a private satellite and also buy a private, anonymous rocket launch to get that satellite to orbit and have this 'monster' diverted to an early fiery grave. US and Rocket Lab have just tested this in space (at least the chase and find part) nudging it to it's demise should be piece of cake.
It's just a matter of how much anyone can accept from those idiots that have been robbing us forever to get that rich to afford doing this.

Germany should focus on supplying Taurus missiles and other heavy equipment (yes, I know they supply a lot, but never enough to kick the Russians in the backside) to allow Ukraine to hit Russia VERY hard. Stop the winching about what can happen in the future. Focus on 'NOW' and quietly build up the defenses against a possible attack. Don't tell Russia what you're doing. Let them do some guessing. Most of the nukes in Russia are probably empty shells. Prepare.
