fox update: second cabinet installed and ready for another butcher block top but now i've gotta figure out exactly what to do with the laminate countertop piece at the end. maybe mount it at 32ish inches high to make a lower spot for beeg items, cause the rest of the workbench is 36 at the left end and 38ish at the right end. also i think the vent hood is getting moved up a couple inches cause i bonked my head on it already. but that's why i just stuck it up as a test before cutting the hole in the concrete. fox update: not a whole lot of visible progress today, just added a unistrut leg at the right end of the cabinets to support the spot on the workbench where the bench vise is gonna go, moved the beeg ladder away from the future cabinets, extended the circuit from the UPS panel to the corner where the garage computer is going, and then added a few canless can lights. i've decided the ceiling fan is going away rather than getting moved to the workbench area. it's big and not especially useful since i have a mini split heat pump. all i ever used it for was to blow on stuff to dry it, but that can be done with a way smaller fan that isn't in the way.
