Mastodon has made it easy to purge my feed of "friends" who couldn't vote for Kamala or Biden but who instead touted Jill Stein and RFK Jr. as the people who could save us from a second Trump adminstration.
I miss some of the folks in my old "walled garden on the internet," but I don't miss having to try to listen to that kind of whack job and pretend to have respect for them.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Everything got political because they, not. "we," they decided to privatize everything and that if you couldn't make some fat cat somewhere fatter you didn't deserve to live. This has been going on at least since Nixon, and it's been in full swing since the CIA took over the White House with that actor chap.

i boost too much
because?
too passive?
too opportunistic?
does it make me friends or build community?
does it make my world a better place?
yours?
but in /this/ context, "mastodon," "the fediverse," aren't boosts how it works?
instead of some formula uplifting content, we lift it ourselves, for and to ourselves and anyone who can see us?
is that how this is supposed to work?

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social #STEM is fash. All the education needed for building bombs and working for the Empire, none of the education about being human. By motherfucking design.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Here's how: starting about 1980 when the CIA captured the White House, the GOP has waged a campaign of anti-Intellectualism explicitly aimed at anything to do with civics, liberal arts, critical thinking,, or any other pursuit which would interfere with the building of the fascist Empire.

"Some eccentrics believe Bacon wrote the plays attributed to
Shakespeare. Be that as it may, the linkage from Ham to Hamlet to
Bacon to the boar's head on Shakespeare's Coat of Arms to the boar
who killed Adonis to the dead-and-resurrected god is perfectly clear in
dream-logic, however perplexing to the Rationalist. Joyce plays
endlessly with these linguistic coincidences; for instance when an
American hog-caller denounces Earwicker as "York's Porker" in
Chapter Three, this refers to Shakespeare's Coat of Arms with its boar's
head, to Bacon (who lived at York House), to the boar-god who
became Adonis, etc. and eventually links into the whole theme of
Ham, Noah's flood, urination, Noah drinking and the drinking at
Finnegan's Wake. (The ballad is called Finnegan's Wake; Joyce's book
is called Finnegans Wake. The missing apostrophe creates another pun,
which Joyce explained to friends as a warning to the ruling classes:
the oppressed rise, eventually, in every historical cycle.)"
--- Coincidence: A Head Test, Robert Anton Wilson

@stefan@stefanbohacek.online this Mastodon user does not feel that the corporate entity Blue sky is aligned with the non-corporate work of Mastodon and activity pub. I'm sure the shareholders of Blue sky or whoever has the money would like the gloss of claiming Mastodon and activity pub support them. But if they really want to be part of the federalverse, be part of the federal verse.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca The underlying fallacy of "modern" economics is found in von Neuman and Morgenstern's "Theory of Games and Economic Behavior," in which they posit, unfounded but uncontested, that "money IS utility." Thus they usher in the back-door of pseudo-reasoning and pseudo-science the ancient divine right of kings and slit the throat of any who would argue enlightenment principles of common good for all.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca I finally saw it a year and a half, maybe 2 years ago, after the three most important women in my life separately and individually talked it up. When the third one got around to mentioning it the synchronicity was overwhelming and I had to finally see it. No one else seemed to have been taken short by the bit about intentionally causing global warming in order to stave off an ice age. None of my lady friends seem to have picked up on that piece.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca if you really want to blow your mind, check out an old film called local hero. In said film oil companies are intentionally warming the planet because they are more concerned about an ice age and warming..
